24 hours ago, I came across Harsh Shandilya’s portfolio website and it gave me a few genuine ideas on how to enhance my own. The concept of starting to write weeknotes is fairly interesting and perhaps something that I had been in search of. For the longest time, the only form of textual braindumps on my website were my posts. Now, I am expanding this website to include weeknotes and my personal anecdotes.
In addition to that, I have also discovered the IndieWeb and the idea of a webring. This came from a few folks at Amrita University’s Bangalore campus through amrita.town. Discovered a bunch of interesting folks working with tech that is there on my bucketlist. Overall, a pretty good discovery week.
So, here’s my week in retrospect
- Corporate life has been fairly slow. There hasn’t been much to do lately as the team is undergoing some restructuring and the software architects are still in the process of solutioning and dispatching details to us plebs :)
- I started teaching myself Rust for the umpteenth time but this time with far more vigour. What makes this time different is that I found two interesting books to learn from — Command-Line Rust and Zero to Prod in Rust So far, I have liked the content and the approach taken by these books in teaching Rust and it fits me like a glove. Hopefully by the end of the tunnel, I can write enough Rust to save my life.
- I watched the F1: The Movie for the second time as I did not have anything entertainment wise. Classroom of The Elite Season 3 just concluded so it’s gonna be a break from anime.
- This week, I have started working on some exercises to get back to sketching. Just lines, ovals, cubes and multi-point perspective. I seriously need something away from the tech-bubble and this seems to be an interesting enough outlet. I used to sketch back in school but safe to say that there has been a 7 year hiatus.
- I think my book reading habit is forming pretty well. Although, I would like to build some structure around this as soon as possible. I end up reading massive chunks in one go by sitting throughout the night and that has been anything but pretty for my day job.
There is still a bit more to do to add to this website. I plan to roll-out an anecdotes section and move some of my posts over to bifurcate between the technical and the non-technical aspects of my life.
Perhaps I should add an art section too, although this depends on the CDN storage limits. I might try using Instagram embeds if possible but it’s still a far-fetched idea from my current standing.
That’s it for this week. See you on the next one!
