This is a second weeknote coming out this week. I don’t usually do this but I thought the details are worth sharing. So, this is the week I picked up agentic development seriously (especially in the last few days) and also the time my frustrations with it grew 10-fold.

Going agentic is much less about the model and a lot about what your harness is good at and what it isn’t and figuring out solutions to those shortcomings. While the model plays a major role, you can still get really good performance out of a cheaper model if you can steer it well.

This weekend, one of my major mistakes in my previously undisclosed project was that I got through the planning sessions really well but I did not setup the entire stack of skills to handle the codebase implementation parts. This meant that while my planning covered all edge cases and I was able to run parallel agents to pick up tasks, it became a sloppy-mess that I had to cleanup by hand once the bigger implementation parts came in.

Most of my weekend went off in making these fixes and then I kinda gave up for a good while to restore morale!

Now, my twitter feed is blowing up with Jev and it’s endless possibilities but also major hit-pieces on cloudflare which I cannot fully disagree with. And not to mention, as always lots of pretty UIs and micro-animations everywhere.

Food, Entertainment and Books

My gastronomical explorations have landed me on 2 interesting conclusions:

• I hate Iced Americano with passion.
• I absolutely love Masala Cola

Turns out they both look very similar / the same, especially when you order them from Swish!

I have put Fruit Fly (the book) on pause. I just haven’t had the time to pick it up for a long-enough reading session, I am kind of hoping I could get back to it in the forthcoming week.

Attended a talk by engineers at Antithesis on DST. Fairly interesting concept, I might try building my own determinisitic hypervisor from scratch at some point.

On the entertainment department however, Silo season-3 wrapped up and Ted Lasso season-4 might wrap up soon. Both have been fairly interesting to watch and I am looking for my next get-away drug. I did a speedrun of the live action Avatar: The Last Airbender and I can say that while it is definitely better than the movie adaptation, it still does not live up to the animated version and they have glossed quite a few of the details from the original storyline.

I was also cruising through the Good Doctor but for reasons unknown to me, the free site I was using, just made it disappear and it isn’t there on Apple TV for India. (sobs!)

I need to figure out a way to watch Lanterns, without HBO Max :)
