Weeknotes: Week #39 - 2026
On this page

Ok, this week has been a weird concoction of sickness, game development and figuring out gRPC?

The Re-entry into gRPC

It has been a really long while since I worked with gRPC and even back in the day I did not really get to work too much on it. So, all things considered, this was an interesting exploration where I picked up a couple of new things along the way and figured out how much keeping gRPC utils in a separate repo matters especially if you are working with different languages but same stubs.

Where did Unity Game Engine come from ?

Unity came into the picture because Ananya decided to use it and now we must stick with it. I have been looking into the other engines as well and it seems like a good choice currently. While godot and bevy seem simpler, Unity has significantly more tutorials and is better built for different form-factors (especially the mobile). With bevy, the whole troupe of writing Rust is a major hiccup as it’ll get in the way of development.

So, Unity it is.

Interestingly, this has lead to my entire youtube recommendation realigning itself into game development only and now I feel like I am not doing enough! There is a lot to learn and from what I am told, a good deal of mathematics will come into picture. Frankly speaking, I am looking forward to it.

Visruth has been kind enough to help me out with different resources, hot takes, asset stores etc. I can say with certainty that this has sped up my development but I can go one step further.

Earlier it was not obvious to me that one should prototype and allow people to play their game a lot more to get a grip of how well suited the mechanics are, but now I have a better picture.

Grab assets from online, figure out the mechanics and netcode, let people play!

Miscellaneous

  • My parents are coming to Bangalore which is a big plus. I have been looking forward to spending some time with them and them showing up is actually a good change rather than me going home. I will be going home during Dusherra and Diwali anyways so this is a currently a better getaway.

  • My relationship with money is changing lately. I have been spending relatively lesser and saving up / investing a lot more. Quite an interesting direction to be honest.

  • My sleep schedule is recovering now which is a positive sign. I think life got kinda messy where I was struggling to sketch, sculpt, learn, read, craft and play all at the same time. A better sleep and a good bath has always been better anchors to a lot of problems.
